Well, this is a long long pending post. Abt 3 mths old story. But nevertheless, a memorable one.
Momo had a Fancy Dress activity in her play school in September. I got to know abt it just 2 days before the event ,as Momo had been a bit irregular in school those days. It was too short a time to prepare anything. I did have a few ideas, but I knew executing them would not have been easy. So I turned to the very talented and immensely creative Shruti (of Artsy Craftsy fame) in the hope of finding something from her blog. N voila, there it was. the Penguin Costume she had done for Líl P. It was quite a simple thing to do. All the material was readily available. N Momo loves Pingu. Sees them on You tube/ CD often. N it didn’t look too elaborate or cumbersome that she would be uncomfortable in it.
I took one of J's black sweatshirt, stitched it up on the sides to make it smaller and more fitting. Stitched a patch of White towel in front, made some feet and beak from yellow paper, stuck in on her shoes and cap(made eyes also) and we had our little Pingu ready. N she had a soft toy penguin too, which she carried with her to school. (had made a yellow web shape for her feet too which she stuck in school as it was tearing while walking.)
Now, I thought it was just an activity and maybe not a competition really, so was quite surprised when I saw the Notice board they had put up in school last Friday when I had gone for a meeting that Momo had won the 1st Prize . Winning is a big boost always, especially if you have made the effort. N Momo really seems lucky in this Fancy dress thing. See here and here.
Thanks a million Shruti. You really helped a lot. I’m sorry I didn’t blog abt it earlier and give you the credit. But I did sms you and thank you. :)
